The Light Leaks founder, Kim Hoyos moderated a panel at the 2024 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.

On October 21st, 2023, the Light Leaks co-hosted a Women in Film Mix & Mingle Event at the Proof of Concept festival powered by American Cinematheque in Culver City, CA.  

On March 25 2023, The Light Leaks hosted an event in Glendale, California that brought together our creative community for a panel and networking session called “Creating Your Own Spotlight”. The event was electric and captured the spirit of what we hope to accomplish as a small business - our creative community at work - supporting each other and inspiring each other.

On February 5th, 2023, we celebrate the sixth birthday of the Light Leaks, and our community dedicated to uplifting and supporting women and nonbinary filmmakers.

As 2022 year comes to an end, the Light Leaks community has much to celebrate. This year we were committed to experimenting with new content, pushing to develop longer productions, trying out new formats, and also growing our community. 

The Light Leaks has never needed to be ‘in person’ to feel the force of our community. Before the pandemic, we had our IRL events to connect us offline but in 2021, we moved to digital events, boosted our newsletter, and focused on what was the best thing for our community. We had our second writing session + virtual mixer in February and it was a hit! As the pandemic continues, we want to provide space where creatives can still connect safely to find community and stay on track with what they're working on. This is a free, monthly digital event series by and for women and GNC filmmakers.

Real Resolutions was our first event of 2020! This event was in collaboration with Sami Main, certified life coach, and focused on goal setting, identifying blocks, and visualizing your authentic self. The second half was a vision board workshop led by our founder, Kim Hoyos.

We hosted an intimate group of Latinx Creatives (+ supporters of the community) at Muchacho ATL where the conversation flowed. Under the Atlanta sun, sitting outside on a patio, and chatting about art and inspiration we truly felt the magic of connection and community.

On March 23, 2019, we hosted "Glow Up: a Panel and Networking Event on How to Build Your Creative Future". Featuring Adya Beasley, Amanda Cowper, Chelsea Pineda, and Jazzmyn Coker as panelists and our founder, Kim Hoyos as a moderated- attendees witnessed an immerse panel that tackled imposter syndrome, finding your creative beat and life transitions.
