Hello hello!

The Light Leaks is built off of community and the power of connection. With community building in our DNA, we’re so lucky to know so many incredible groups across the country who align with our mission as well *swoon*. This month teamed up with one of our sister sites Chicago based non profit, Obvi, for Ladies Aloud. Ladies Aloud is an existing event program from Obvi that we were super happy to jump into.

Headed by Mary Kate Pleggenkuhle and Madelaine Walker, Obvi is a storytelling platform for women and GNC narratives. Supportive, sweet, and the coolest ladies around- we always knew if we went to Chicago that they were our #1 pick for a collab. This special collab edition of Ladies Aloud was focused on the topic of “Film”. From past experiences with specific films to personal narratives about identity and struggle, the night was inspiring, heartwarming, and truly magical.

Our favorite part of hosting events is being able to meet our community IRL while providing a space for individuals to feel empowered to share their voice and work. Thank you to our wonderful raffle and drink sponsors who were able to make the night magical- Benefit Cosmetics, Ban.do, Colossal Shop, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, and CNI Brands. Any event is truly a team effort and being able to organize this event while being based in NYC really shows how incredible Obvi is, they’re total bosses tbh.
