At the Tribeca Film Festival 2024, celebrating its 23rd year, The Light Leaks had the chance to delve into a captivating lineup of films directed by women. Highlights include Contessa Gayles’s “The Debutantes,” which explores Black girlhood, Sabrina Van Tassel’s “Missing from Fire Trail Road” shedding light on the crisis of missing Indigenous women, Roxy Shih’s suspenseful “Beacon,” Yasemin Samdereli’s inspiring “Samia,” and Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge’s “Don’t You Let Me Go,” which beautifully examines grief through magical realism.
