Creating Your Own Spotlight: Recap

Last Saturday March 25 2023, The Light Leaks hosted an event in Glendale, California that brought together our creative community for a panel and networking session called “Creating Your Own Spotlight”. The event was electric and captured the spirit of what we hope to accomplish as a small business - our creative community at work - supporting each other and inspiring each other.

The panelists, Savana Ogburn, So Yun Um, Dahlia Lagos, and Annie Nishida were moderated in conversation by TLL founder, Kim Hoyos and shared their own unique perspectives and experiences through film, television, advertising, and music. They shared their journeys to success, discussing the challenges they faced, and the strategies they used to overcome them. Whether it was So Yun’s tip to “not be afraid to burn bridges” for those not worthy of your time and space, or Savana’s words on fighting and managing perfectionism - each creative shared their insights into their industries, discussing how they approach their work and how they stay inspired.

The discussion was lively and engaging, with the panelists sharing stories and insights that resonated with the audience. Attendees asked thoughtful questions and engaged in lively discussions with each other, creating a sense of community, and connection that was palpable in the air.

We want to share a special thank you to our partners for donations and discounts: Embrace Change NYC, Bombilla, Tubeez, Nanlite, Skillshare, and Envato Elements! Thanks to them, we were able to raffle off two gift baskets for our attendees to win, plus they received digital bonuses in their inbox. We also shared mini notebooks with all attendees to jot down any notes, ideas, or questions for our panelists.

Throughout the event, there was a sense of excitement and possibility filling the space. Attendees left feeling inspired and energized, with new ideas and strategies to apply to their own creative pursuits. Overall, it was a great reminder of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another in our creative pursuits. We look forward to seeing more events like this from The Light Leaks in the future.

Hope to see you at the next one!
