End of the Year Recap - 2022

As 2022 year comes to an end, the Light Leaks community has much to celebrate. As a group of volunteer creatives, this year has been about consistency and finding our flow as a remote team. In 2022, we were committed to experimenting with new content, pushing to develop longer productions, trying out new formats, and also growing our community.

In this past year, we have been busy producing original content, with our team publishing 5 YouTube videos and writing 13 editorial pieces. We have relaunched a TikTok channel and began sharing advice, relatable moments, and more! Our proudest moment this year was when we received the news we won a $2k small business grant aimed at freelancing women. This grant will allow us to finish our first podcast (coming 2023) and develop more original content, finally putting us in the realm of being a production company.

While we tried out new things in 2022 we also did what we’ve been doing for the last five years - sharing resources, inspiration, and being the source of connection our community has come to love. We will always be committed to uplifting marginalized communities in film, focusing on women and nonbinary filmmakers and that’s more than just our missions. It’s who we are.

The Light Leaks is proud to be founded by a queer Latina and supported by a volunteer team of 11 women and nonbinary filmmakers across the country. We are committed to uplifting voices and faces on screen that don’t get the opportunity to shine.

As we look forward to the new year, we are excited to continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and to create even more impactful content that resonates with our audience. Thank you for being a part of the Light Leaks journey! We are grateful for the support of our community and are excited to continue our mission of supporting and uplifting marginalized voices in the film industry.

Thank you for being a part of the Light Leaks family!
